Voices for SpeakAlong

While there are many voices available to choose from in the Macintosh Speech Preferences, you may find that few of them make good storytelling voices. You might wish to look to other sources for more desirable voices, as we have done here at ThingTone Software.

Below are a few sources of high quality Macintosh-compatible voices, with our recommendations.

Apple Voices (in Speech Preferences)

Our favorite voice in OS X at this time is "Alex" (new in 10.5 Leopard)

Cepstral Voices (http://www.cepstral.com)

Our favorite Cepstral voices are "William" and "Lawrence"

InfoVox iVox Voices (http://www.assistiveware.com)

Our favorite iVox voices are "Lucy," "Graham," and "Heather"
